The Fallas of Valencia are one of the city’s most iconic cultural traditions: a celebration of art, satire, craftsmanship and community that transforms the streets into an open-air exhibition of monumental sculptures, creativity and local identity. Each year, neighbourhood communities come together to create their own falla, culminating in several days of celebrations that celebrate Valencian culture and bring people together.
For the 50th anniversary of Falla Quint Pizarro, I developed the complete editorial design and illustration for its commemorative llibret, a publication that celebrates a decade of the falla’s history while exploring the broader visual legacy of the festival.
The publication takes the reader on a journey through 50 years of falla design, looking back at the evolution of its aesthetics, ideas and visual language. Through editorial composition, custom illustrations and archival material, the project creates a contemporary visual narrative that connects the past with the present.
More than a commemorative publication, the llibret becomes a visual record of the community, its creative identity and the tradition that continues to shape Valencia year after year.
